Boxycharm June 2019
The theme for Boxycharm June 2019 was Getaway and the box contained 5 items.
Tarte Be You. Naturally. Eyeshadow Palette $36.00
Touch In Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence $23.00
Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Lipgloss $17.00
Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream $25.00
Dirty Little Secret Lip Liner $15.00
Tarte Be You. Naturally Eyeshadow Palette
The Tarte Be You. Naturally. Eyeshadow palette contains 8 neutral shades. There are 4 shimmers and 4 matte shades that are the Amazonian Clay formula. All of the shades are smooth, pigmented and applied well except for the pale gold shade. It’s a chunky, frosty shade that’s very difficult to apply. Overall it’s a good palette, there’s not a lot that can be said about it, it’s a pretty neutral basic palette that flatters all skin tones.
Touch In Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence
Touch In Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence is a thin liquid primer that feels tacky on the skin, this helps your makeup really cling to the skin. This essence is infused with Calendula Officinalis flower extract. Calendula oil is extracted from Marigold flowers and contains anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial properties that help treat various skin conditions as well as improve the quality and appearance of the skin. I think this is a great primer if you have relatively good skin, however if you’re like me and have very large pores or deep cavities formed from pitted acne then this isn’t going to be enough. I generally go in with 2 primers, one all over my skin and another in targeted areas to fill in pores and texture. I use this prime essence all over the skin and I like it a lot, I haven’t experienced any fading or breaking down of my makeup.
Dominique Cosmetics Peach Tea
I received Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Lipgloss in the shade Peach Tea. It’s a beautiful, non sticky sheer gloss that can be worn alone or layered over other lip products. It’s very comfortable and lightweight on the lips.
Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream
The Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream claims to remove all makeup and impurities from your skin while hydrating dry and sensitive skin. It contains good properties that improve the skins resilience and tone. I tried this out once to remove my makeup and it was a major fail so I set it aside and I haven’t used it since. I was disappointed that it didn’t live up to its claims but I’m not going to write it off just yet. I will try this as a cleanser and will see if it works better in that capacity.
Dirty Little Secret in the shade Rosie Posie
So the last item I received was the Dirty Little Secret lip liner in the shade Rosie Posie. This is a traditional pencil that you will have to sharpen which I’m not a fan off simply because those are generally dryer than retractable pencils. I applied this after moisturising my lips and it applied well. I do think that $15.00 for a pencil like this is a bit much though…
Overall I wasn’t too impressed with this box, and I know its always good value for money but in terms of the product offering I wasn’t too thrilled. I think my favourite products from the box was the primer and the lip gloss.
I hope you guys find these posts informative, whether you’re a Boxycharm subscriber or not I think it’s important to have knowledge of what works and what doesn’t in the world of makeup. I hope you all have a great night and I’ll talk to you all soon…
