Hello my angels 🙂
I know I’m a little late with these posts, but the festive season was so demanding that it left me with an accumulation of posts that I need to put up first because of my inability to post posted during that period. So over the next couple of days I am going to be sharing with you my top products of 2018. These are products that have proven to be amazing amongst all other products that I have tested in the past year.
So today we are starting off with face products. If I have spoken about some of these products before I will insert the link to them so that you can check out the full review.
Primer: Cover FX Blurring Primer
I was really fortunate to have received this in my first Boxycharm in May 2018. This is a lightweight, oil free primer that fills in pores, blurs imperfections, smoothes and mattifies my skin. It’s very similar to Benefits Porefessional, just a little more mattifying. I have oily to combination skin and I find that because this is a little more mattifying than other primers, it allows my makeup to last for a really long time.
Colour Corrector: La Girl Pro Concealer (Orange Corrector)
I’ve been using this for about 4 to 5 months now, and I’ve really been enjoying the results. It is incredibly pigmented and helps correct my hyper pigmentation and dark circles. Its super affordable and works very well. There are other shades available but I have only needed the orange shade.
Foundation: Maybelline Superstay 24hr Full Coverage Foundation
This has replaced some of my highend foundations. Its lightweight, super full coverage and it has amazing staying power. I have tried many foundations from the drugstore in 2018 and all seem to lack something. Some of them come really close but seem to fall short in some areas when compared to Maybelline’s foundation. This has been my best find in 2018.
Concealer: Makeup Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer
So I really do like this concealer. I’ve gone through 3 bottles of this product already. It’s definitely the best drugstore concealer out on the market in my opinion. It has good coverage, I’d say medium to full coverage (buildable). I haven’t experienced it settling into lines or creasing throughout the day. My only complaint with this is the shade range. I have a yellow undertone and I find that the shades are very pink. While I can make the C10 work for me it’s not my perfect shade.
Powder foundation: Nyx Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation Powder
This powder foundation is my absolute favourite. No matter what I try I keep going back to this product. It’s very smooth and creamy. It’s a powder that doesn’t give you that one dimensional matte look. I wouldn’t go as far to say that this is glowy but there’s something special about it. If you haven’t tried it yet, try it now thank me later 😉
Blush: The Balm Cosmetics Blush in Frat Boy
Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher in Desert Rose
I’m generally a person that gravitates towards peachy, coral shades of blushers. These two stood out in 2018. I find myself reaching for them all the time. They both have a very soft and smooth texture. They are very pigmented and blend effortlessly on the cheeks.
Makeup setting spray: Milani Make It Last Setting Spray
This is an amazing setting spray, as it helps my makeup last all day. It removes the powdery appearance from the skin. I don’t experience any fading throughout the day. I have tried several setting sprays in 2018 and I really appreciate the fine spray on the Milani setting spray. It has a fine mist unlike other setting sprays and the scent isn’t harsh. I really enjoyed using this.
I didn’t include a bronzer or highlighter, just because there wasn’t anything that I really loved.
I hope you found this post insightful, I get asked a lot for product recommendations so I thought this would be a great way to share those with you. If you have tried any of these let me know what you think of them, and if you have some favourites that you would like to recommend, let me know in the comments.
Have a great day and I’ll be back tomorrow with my top eye products 😉
