Happy Wednesday y’all 🙂
I hope you guys have had a great day!
I recently subscribed to Ipsy and received my glam bag a couple of days ago, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys and let you know what I received and what I think about the products.
First off, for those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it’s a monthly beauty subscription that costs $10.00 a month. This subscription is called the Ipsy glam bag. You receive a bag that contains 5 deluxe to full size items. They do have a glam bag plus subscription which is similar to Boxycharm and that contains 5 full sized items and costs $25.00 a month.
The glam bag plus was my reason for subscribing to Ipsy, however this is still a fairly new concept to the company and so they are currently rolling it out to Ipsy members only. I am on the waitlist and hopefully by February, I should be getting the glam bag plus.
The theme for the Ipsy glam bag December 2018 was: Be merry. Be bright. Be bold. Be you.
There were a total of 6 items in a beautiful gold sequin bag that could actually be used as an accessory.
The bag features:
Take Home The Bronze by The Balm Cosmetics in the shade Greg
Finding Ferdinand Blush in Skinny Dip
Tapered Blending Brush 35E by Farah Brushes
Sugar Cosmetics Arch Arrival Brow Definer in the shade Taupe Tom
Half Caked Lip Fondant in the shade Power Trip
OUAI Scalp and Body Scrub
The take home the bronze bronzer by The Balm Cosmetics is a great product. This is marketed as an anti orange bronzer. While some bronzers can make your skin look orange, this product just adds a warm glow. It has a very smooth texture that blends like a dream. I have had no issues with the application, it does not appear streaky or patchy at all. I received the shade Greg which would be a perfect contour shade. I enjoyed the product so much that I will definitely be picking up a full size as well as a lighter shade to use as my bronzer.
This blush by Finding Ferdinand in the shade Skinny Dip is a very smooth and soft textured product. It blends really well and add a good healthy flush to the cheeks. I’m a huge fan of this product as it comes in a great universal shade that will suit a number of skin tones. (The name Finding Ferdinand makes me think of the movie Ferdinand) This is definitely a brand I will look into.
This was my first time trying out a brush by the brand Farah Brushes and I’m very impressed. The brush is very high quality and soft. It blends out product seamlessly. You can never have too many blending brushes, so I’m grateful to have received this in the bag.
This has to be one of the worst eyebrow products I have tried. There is NO colour payoff, it’s extremely hard and dry. I didn’t use it for the try on since it wouldn’t transfer to my brows. This swatch was actually painful to do. I’m very disappointed in this product.
I really wanted this liquid lipstick to work since it’s such a pretty colour but within 5 minutes of setting on my lips, the product turned powdery and started to flake off. This was also a major disappointment.
Lastly we have the OUAI Scalp and Body Scrub. Whilst I wouldn’t use this on my hair, I love using this on my body. Once applied to damp skin, it does suds up. I apply this using circular motions, just to buff off any excess dirt or dead skin. The scent on this is absolutely heavenly and my skin feels moisturised after using this.
Is the Ipsy Glam Bag worth it??
Yes! Out of 6 products only 2 items were a fail for me. To me that’s a learning experience and I don’t mind it. I paid $10.00 which is approx. R165.00 for 6 items (3 full size and 3 deluxe) which is really inexpensive.
I love subscription boxes/bags. They are great ways to build on your makeup collection and a really awesome way to try out new products /brands. If you’re interested in subscribing to Ipsy you can use the link below…
I hope you enjoyed this unveiling/first impressions. If you have tried any of these products let me know your thoughts on them. Have a fantastic week 😉
