Today I have a review on Colourpop’s Summer collection for 2018….Sol y Mar 🙂
The Sol y Mar collection which means sun and sea, was launched in the US during their Summer, which is of course Winter here in South Africa. I ordered these palettes a while back and decided this would be an appropriate time to share some of my thoughts on these with you.
Sol (sun) shades:
New Digs: matte pastel peach
Anthem: metallic bright pinky copper
Dynamite: matte burnt orange
Hotel: metallic vivid copper
Motel: satin hot pinky coral
B+B: metallic pinky gold
Floaties: bright metallic orange
OOO: hot orange coral
Unwind: matte rich terracotta
Mar (sea) shades:
El Rey: metallic soft peach with gold pearl
Wild One: metallic rich orange copper
Detour: matte cobalt
Boozy:metallic orange with gold pearl
Gridlock: bright teal with silver & teal glitter
Sorbet: matte peachy soft brown
Hwy: satin sea foam green with a gold sheen
Top Down: matte dark chocolate
My Way: metallic true vibrant bronze
Both the Sol and Mar palettes are 9 pan eyeshadow palettes that contain a variety of shades and finishes. If you have been following Pretty Politics for a while, you would know that I adore the quality of Colourpop eyeshadows. They are super pigmented and smooth. They apply with full colour and blend out effortlessly.
These shadows are both soft and smooth, however I will say that the center shades which seems to be the ‘star of the show’ in both palettes, have a slightly drier texture as compared to the other shades but, they still apply with full colour and are as vibrant as they are in the pan.
The shade selection in both palettes are absolutely beautiful. I love the way these palettes came together, its stunning… 🙂
The packaging on both palettes are made with a white hard plastic as opposed to the cardboard packaging that we generally see with Colourpop palettes and it has a generously sized mirror which I enjoy using while doing my makeup. These palettes are smaller than their regular palettes and are excellent for travel.
These palettes retail for $12.00 each and can also be purchased as a set for $24.00

I hope you found this review to be helpful and informative. If you have tried the Sol y Mar collection, let me know your thoughts on them and which one you liked more.
Stay blessed! 😉
