So I know I should be continuing with the back to basics series today, but I received my Boxycharm for August a little late. So I thought I would swop it around a little, just because we’re already in September. I will continue with this week’s back to basics post on Wednesday 🙂 so be on the lookout for that 😉
The theme for Boxycharm August 2018 was Life Of The Party and it had a total of 6 items
The box features:
Adesse Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil $18.00
Party Animal eyeshadow palette by Laura Lee Los Angeles $19.00
Bang Beauty Chocolate Eyeliner $22.00
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in the shade Action $21.00
Lashes by House Of Lashes in the shape Siren $9.00
Wander Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks $13.00
Unfortunately I had to remove the cuticle oil by Adesse from my box because Aramex does not ship liquids or nail polish. This was a bummer as I was looking forward to trying it out, but I am thankful that I did not have to pay for this item individually as this is a subscription box….So when life gives you lemons…make lemonade 🙂
First off we have the Party Animal eyeshadow palette by Laura Lee Los Angeles. There is a total of 6 shades. 4 matte, 1 shimmer and 1 matte with sparkle/flecks of glitter. The palette is full of bright, colourful eyeshadows that are pigmented .However, most of the shades are chalky and very powdery. There is a ton of fallout with these shadows. I would use this palette as more of an accent to incorporate pops of colour in my looks.
The Bang Beauty eyeliner in the shade chocolate is said to be an eyeliner, eyeshadow base or to be used as a brow pomade. Its creamy and applied well in a swatch, however I don’t see myself getting much use out of this product because of the shade. It’s a very light “taupey” brown and it’s not a shade I would use as an eyeliner. I also have very dark brows so it’s definitely not going to work as a brow pomade for me.
I got the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in the shade Action. It’s a very comfortable, opaque formula and if it were in a different shade I would have loved it. I got a shade I would never wear but I will look into other shades within the range because it’s such a high quality luxurious lip product.
I got a pair of lashes by House Of Lashes in the style Siren. These are long, fluffy, high quality lashes. They are very comfortable and have a thin, flexible band. I did not have to trim these at all considering I have small eyes, so I don’t think these would work for everyone.
Lastly we have the Wander Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks, these are said to be a gold foil undereye mask that brightens, hydrates and reduces the appearance of dark circles. It contains hyaluronic acid that diminishes the appearances of wrinkles. I haven’t tried them out yet, but I am eager to. I think it’s really cool that we got these 🙂
Overall I wasn’t super impressed with this month’s box….there were some nice products and some not so nice. Out of the entire box, the lashes and under eye masks stood out. There are some things I won’t get use of simply because of the shades, but that’s a personal preference.
I hope you found this to be helpful and informative, I personally love Boxycharm. It’s a great way to try out new products and build your makeup collection at a very affordable price. If you own any of these products, let me know your thoughts on them 🙂
